Cosine Correction Angular errors of light incidences on the cell are corrected by the globe covered on photocell (with spectral transmission characteristics) Angel of incidence 10° within ± 1.5%. 30° within ±3%. 60° within ±10%. 80° within ± 30%.
Operating Principle When irradiated, the selenium photocell generates a potential differences, and the photocurrent is read on the DC ammeter which is calibrated in lx.

Color-correcting filters
The spectral responses is different from that of human eye. Therefore, color -correcting filter(s) are use with photocel. The color sensitivity of photocell is nearer to the standard luminosity curve (average human eye distribution curve).

Cosine correction globe
The photocell response to light varies with the angel of incidence (so-called cosine law) due to the reflection from the surface of the cell. Angular errors are corrected using cosine correction globe with the photocell.
