Delta Power Electronics
Delta Power Electronics Center Shanghai, China
"YOKOGAWA has given excellent support in products and services."
| Recognizing tremendous marketing and technological opportunities, Delta Power Electronics Center (DPEC) was founded on June 5th, 1999 in Pudong, Shanghai by Delta Group. We believe that for Delta Group-the largest manufacturer of power electronics products-the key to staying at the forefront of power electronics technology lies in the hiring of excellent people, and creating technological innovation. DPEC gathers the top power electronics researchers from academia and industry. | ![]() DL1740 Digital Oscilloscopes |
| These graduates from the top universities in China do development work on high frequency technology, high efficiency topology, magnetic technology, thermal and packaging approaches, optimum control, EMI and EMC technology, and simulation software platforms. The fruits of their efforts will greatly benefit Delta Group and our partners. In the past three years, YOKOGAWA has given us excellent support, products, and services. There are many instruments from YOKOGAWA installed at our center, including DL1740 Digital Oscilloscopes, WT1600 Digital Power Meter, and the PZ4000 Power Analyzer. We look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship in the coming year. | ![]() |
Bosch
Robert Bosch GmbH located in Stuttgart, Germany. The Bosch Development & Research of Hybrid Engines section develops electrical propulsion principles for motor vehicles with combustion engines as well as for hybrid and electrical vehicles. Bosch engineers chose the PZ4000 Power Analyzer for their new project. They liked the high reliability and high accuracy of the PZ4000 which made their project progress smoothly. In addition to high reliability and accuracy, the PZ4000's high common mode voltage, transient mode, and scope mode were features that made Bosch decide to purchase the PZ4000.

SANYO Electric Corporation
| We developped energy-conserving air conditioners by attaching sensors in a room. The sensors detect the presence of people and light to automatically stop airconditioning a room when it isn't being used. I have used other power meters before, but the Yokogawa PZ4000 Power Analyzer's color-display of power values and the transient waveform analysis function are particularly appealing." We're in charge of development and quality control for instruments that measure electric power and the energy. With the recent enactment of energy conservation laws and ISO14001, energy-savings has become an important topic in many fields.
The power measurement unit that we're developing, EcoMonitor, monitors the volume of electric power and the energy usage at factories, and determines whether any of that electricity is being wasted. Also, acquired data from multiple locations can be aggregated, observed, and analyzied over a network. We are responsible for maintaining the development and manufacturing quality of these measuring instruments, as well as the market quality which means the degree to which the product can satisfy the customers' requirements.

Previously we were using a power meter that could only display electric data numericaly. But since many new kinds of electric equipments were coming out, and during our work we were seeing more and more waveforms that were extremely distorted. So, we realized we needed a measuring instrument with wide frequency bandwidth that could simultaneously measure power and waveforms. Therefore we decided to bring in thePZ4000 Power View. We normally measure voltage, current, and power, but harmonics are also generated from the power supply system, so we can view the waveform directly with thePZ4000 and evaluate the system while confirming whether waveforms occurr as predicted. This power analyzer (measuring instrument) allows us to make waveform observations never before possible, and has improved our working efficiency tremendously. Until now we required several oscilloscopes and power meters, but the PZ4000 can measure 3 phase power system and display the waveform and measured values on the screen in real time, which is incredibly convenient. The screen is a color LCD that is very easy to see, and one unit takes up a relatively small space which helps us out. |

Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.
| At Matsushita it is our responsibility to develop electronic circuit
blocks for fluorescent lamp ballast inverters. We selected the PZ4000
because of its cost-effective performance and its excellent accuracy at
high frequencies. We used Yokogawa's digital power meters
before. Only the PZ4000, however, enables observation of both sine
waves input to the inverter, and electrical parameters on the same
screen. Additionally, the PZ4000 is vital for measuring the harmonic's
level used to decrease the harmonic distortion of input current as
required by (class C) IEC regulations for lighting fixtures. The PZ4000
is a digital power meter based on a new concept. A single PZ can do a
whole range of things from waveform observations to power analysis, and
easily save data to a floppy to create reports with a PC."

Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.
| As designers of power units for general and business use liquid crystal projectors (such as for airplanes), we use the PZ4000 to measure rated power consumption and to check the power control of projector lamps. Power control for lamps is rather difficult. We use the trend analysis function of the PZ4000 to measure power changes, and the trigger function to measure electronic noise. We then try to determine whether noise is negatively affecting the electrodes in the lamps. Very strict design rules are applied to projectors used in airplanes to insure that other flight instruments are not adversely affected. The PZ4000 is very useful for such design as it analyzes power unit harmonics up to 500 orders. Additionally the PZ4000 has helped us to improve power factor circuit performance and energy consumption efficiency. | ![]() Projection by "TH-L798"

Tsinghua University
The AC power collection system lab in Department of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua University is mainly engaged in research on applications of energy savings and inverter variable technology through AC power collection system technology and electric power systems. Presently, our main focus is on AC collection system technology and the evaluation of electric power energy quality. The Yokogawa DL716 and PZ4000 have been extremely useful for many tasks related to this research. In particular, the DL716's large capacity memory makes it easy to capture abnormal phenomena in otherwise normal waveforms. For example, we can run the DL716 for several days, and capture any rare or abnormal signals that may occur during that time.
