" At ISUZU I design control units for ABS, brake assistants, and retarders (a device generating torque to support the main control unit's brake). For my daily measurement work I used to get on cars with many different instruments, and I had to operate various panels. The WE7000 compactly stores various measurement modules, and lets me display and analyze all measurement data on a single PC. As a result, we have been able to improve the quality of control units fast. In fact, thanks to the efficient unified data management we were able to cut our testing time by 30%."

"Three years ago we developed a new accelerator called "stretcher-booster ring". To measure signals generated by monitors installed inside the accelerator to observe the track of electron beams we picked the Precision Data Acquisition WE7000.
We apply various monitors like a beam screen monitor, a wire-scan monitor, and a button monitor. For data gathered by the button monitor the WE7000 measures the rise of induced voltage generated on the surface of conduit when electron beams pass. "

"The WE7000 was selected mainly because of its advanced concept and its various communicative interfaces. GP-IB is the standard interface for most measurement instruments, but it transfers data too slow when large amounts are acquired. The WE7000 helped us to speed up data acquisition.
The WE7000 also enables us to execute remote operations that are indispensable as we can't enter the place where beams are generated during experiments.
Another strong point of the WE7000 is the PC-based measurement system with selectable modules to fit our application. "

"I design control units for Torque-on-demand 4WD systems. (Rear-wheel-based driving system, which increases torque applied to front wheels if road conditions demand it. Very effective on slippery surfaces.) The WE7000' PC-friendly features allow us to accurately simulate vehicle conditions on an experiment bench. Its multi-channels are very useful for acquisition of large data quantities. "

We are using several of the WE7000 PC-Based Measurement Instruments for development of our common rail diesel engine injection systems. To increase engine performance and reduce harmful emissions, it's necessary to have precise control over both the emission timing of the fuel injector, and of the amount of injected fuel down to the µ sec order. When evaluating the performance and reliability of the injector, we need a measuring instrument that is highly accurate and has a variety of functions.

By adding modules to our WE7000 station such as the 1 MS/s Isolation Digitizer module, the temperature module, the strain module, and the D/A module that allows us send command output to the test bench, we've got all the functionality that we need for our testing and evaluation setup. In particular, being able to control all the measurement modules from a PC has really helped us become more efficient and accurate during evaluations and measurements.
Also, by saving data from several WE7000s on the Ethernet, we can share data, and even perform GO/NO-GO determinations that we used to have to perform offline. These are additional factors that improved our efficiency. In the future I think we'll also want to get more into real time measurements.
Currently diesel engines are facing big hurdles, and strict emission regulations have been imposed one after another not just in Japan but all over the world (especially in Europe and the US). Common rail systems will be key to be able to achieve environmentally-friendly yet high-performance engines, and it will become more and more important to be able to exert fine control over the injector and increase the injection pressure. I'm counting on Yokogawa to continue to meet these injector system requirements with WE7000 series instruments.
Bosch also uses the DL716 ScopeCorder.
