Why is the Sample Rate and HResolution Not Equivalent in an ASCII File Saved by a DL Series Oscilloscope?

If you selected Decimation or P-P Compression when saving waveform data in ASCII CSV format, then the HResolution will not be equivalent to the Sampling Rate. If Decimation or P-P Compression is not selected, then HResolution = 1/SampleRate.

HResolution represent the time interval between data points in a ASCII file. It changes according to the decimation/compression ratio since you are affecting the time interval between the data points. The sampling rate is the rate at which data is sampled during waveform acquisition and is not affected by decimation/compression.

Example
Decimation/PP Compression Disabled:
Sample Rate = 2000 S/sec
HResolution = 1/2000 = 5.00E-04

Per20 Decimation Enabled:
Sample Rate = 2000 S/sec
HResolution = 1.00E-02
