What is Decimation and How do I use Decimation in Xviewer?

Decimation is a technique used to reduce the total number of samples. You can use Xviewer to perform decimation on your waveform data files that have the WDF/WVF/ASCII CSV extension format. Decimation reduces the total number of samples by saving one data point for every x amount of data. You will need to specify the data interval.

For example, a decimation interval of "Per1000" means that for every 1000 points of data in your waveform, 1 data point is extracted and saved by Xviewer.

To do decimation in Xviewer, follow the procedures listed below:

  1. Transfer or open the appropriate *.WVF, *.WDF, or ASCII *.CSV file in Xviewer
  2. Click on File » Save As » More Options located at the bottom right corner of the Save As menu
  3. Click on the Compression drop-down menu and select Decim
  4. Click on the Compression Rate drop-down menu and select the desired interval
  5. Confirm all save configuration and save destination
  6. Click on Save to save the file
