What is the Averaging Method Function on the AQ7270 OTDR?
On the AQ7270 OTDR, there is an Averaging Method function with two measurement modes: High Speed or High Reflection.
High Speed
The high speed mode is used to measure all sections using a fixed attenuation setting. If the attenuation is not appropriate and a large reflection occurs, the corresponding section of the waveform may saturate.
High Reflection
The high reflection mode measures the waveform with variable attenuation settings. The optimal attenuation is set according to the backscattering light level for each section. This allows accurate measurements even where there are large reflections, such as those caused by an open end.
