Development Background
With the growing emphasis in recent years on measures that will help to achieve a decarbonized society, there is a need to increase the energy efficiency of motors and inverters used in the transportation sector and clean energy-related products such as solar power generation devices. This need is particularly acute in the power electronics industry, where the increase in applications for and production of next-generation power devices utilizing silicon-carbide (SiC) technology is driving the requirement for measurement of high-voltage and higher-speed signals and for ever greater measurement precision. Measurement of such signals requires measurement from an ungrounded potential, necessitating the use of differential probes instead of standard probes. Yokogawa Test & Measurement has expanded its probe lineup by developing wide-bandwidth differential probes capable of measuring high voltage and high-speed signals. These will contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society by helping to improve energy efficiency.

Main Features
The PBDH0400 Series will initially launch with two models: 702922 with a maximum input voltage of 2000 V, and 702921 with a maximum input voltage of 1000 V.

1. High-voltage and wide bandwidth measurement
The PBDH0400 Series offers measurements of high voltages over 1000 V and a wide frequency range to allow the accurate waveform observation of faster-changing signals that is required for electric vehicles and renewable energy applications. This is particularly beneficial for developers of next-generation inverters, enabling accurate observation of minute changes in high-speed signals, such as switching signals. In addition, the excellent noise resistance, allows the detection of events that can cause unexpected anomalies, including waveform overshoot and ringing.

2. Automatic power supply and attenuation setting
The PBDH0400 Series features the Yokogawa probe interface, which eliminates the need for power supply from an external power source when connected to a Yokogawa oscilloscope. This saves both cost and installation space. Additionally, the probe attenuation ratio is automatically set through the interface to allow measurement to start immediately after connection to the instrument. Combining the PBDH0400 with the 12-bit DLM5000HD or DLM3000HD oscilloscopes enables high-voltage, wide- bandwidth, and high-resolution measurement.
