Yokogawa T&M - Looking back and looking forward

Politically it has been a year of turmoil and surprises. Brexit followed by President Donald Trump and meanwhile, to most of us, the effects of global warming become ever more apparent.

With our focus on the measurement challenges related to energy conservation, efficiency and sustainability, we continue in our pursuit to increase the general understanding of power measurement and to improve accuracy.

During 2016 we have improved the uncertainties in power calibration in our ISO accredited laboratory which has not only enabled us to improve our 100 kHz capability but also to improve the specifications for the transformer version of our WT3000E precision power analyser. This means that the WT3000E Transformer Version now further exceeds the requirements for accuracy in the standard at a power factor of 0.01 and is now also specified down to 0.001. We also released the WT1800E, the replacement for the WT1800, which is the 3rd power analyser in our current family where we have improved specifications and added important new features.

The release of the AQ6376 in February, which set a new standard for measuring optical signals in the mid-wavelength infrared (MWIR) region beyond 3µm, marked the 3rd year in a row where we have launched a new laboratory Optical Spectrum Analyser (OSA). You can expect this trend to continue next year!

The introduction of new optical modules and new firmware for our AQ7280 Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) means that it meets more fibre optic network installation and maintenance needs in more and more countries.

With the DM7560, we expanded our general purpose range of products with this 6.5 digit Digital Multimeter (DMM) and by introducing support for the PSI5 bus on Mixed Signal Oscilloscopes (MSO) we continue to support the latest needs of the automotive industry.

We look forward to introducing new test and measurement tools to you in 2017 and helping you to meet your own challenges.

I wish you a happy Christmas and prosperous New Year.
