World-Class Optical Performance

High Resolution & High Dynamic Range
The advanced monochromator achieves high wavelength resolution and high close-in dynamic range. With the sharper spectral characteristics of the monochromator, spectral signals in close proximity can be separated clearly and measured accurately.

High Sensitivity
Weak optical signals can be measured accurately and quickly.

Seven Sensitivity Settings*
The sensitivity settings can be selected according to test applications and measurement speed requirements.
*Except Limited Model

High Dynamic Mode
The dynamic range can be improved by reducing the influence of stray-light, which is caused when the input is a strong optical signal.

Peak-Hold & External Trigger Mode
The pulse peak spectrum of a pulsed light signal is measurable. Often used in the transmission loop testing of telecommunication systems, and also in the low power measurement at the early stage of laser chip development to catch the peak power of a pulsed signal.

Free Space Input
Free space input enables multimode and single-mode fiber on the same OSA and small insertion loss variation at the input connector increases measurement repeatability. Because there is no physical contact, no damage results when connecting fibers. This feature supports SM, GI (50/125 μm, 62.5/125 μm), and large core fiber up to 800 μm.

Fast Sweep
With an advanced monochromator, faster electrical circuits, and noise reduction techniques, the AQ6373E achieves fast measurement speed even when measuring a steep spectrum from DFB-LD signals, or when measuring a low power signal from a broadband light source.

Wide Span Sweep with High Resolution
The 200,001 data sampling points expand measurement range in a single sweep while keeping a high wavelength resolution. This makes your measurements easier and more efficient than conventional systems that use a low number of sampling points and require multiple partial measurements to cover the complete wavelength range.

Easy Accuracy Maintenance
Ambient condition change, vibration, and shock to an optical precision product, like an optical spectrum analyzer, will effect the optical components and eventually degrade optical performance. Using standard functions, the AQ6373E can maintain its high optical performance within a couple of minutes to enable quick-start measurements.

Optical Alignment
Automatically align the optical path in the monochromator using the built-in source to maintain high performance.

Wavelength Calibration
Automatically calibrate the optical spectrum analyzer with an external light source to ensure the wavelength accuracy.

Built-In Optical Alignment Source
An external light source is needed for wavelength calibration. GI 50/125µm fiber required along with periodic calibration. In some instances, the optical alignment and wavelength calibration function cannot correct optical performance.

USB Ports
Four USB ports facilitate the use of external devices such as a mouse, keyboard, external hard drives, and memory sticks.

Large touchscreen LCD
A responsive high-resolution 10.4-inch multi-touch capacitive touchscreen makes device operation even simpler and more intuitive. Change measurement conditions, perform analysis, and change the optical spectrum view as if you were operating a tablet device. In the optical spectrum view, the waveform view can be zoomed or shifted by a simple tap and drag.

Advanced Marker
Adds markers to obtain the power density and the integrated power of a designated spectrum.

Spectrum Analysis
Multiple data analysis functions are available that cover many popular applications:

  • OSNR
  • DFB-LD
  • FP-LD
  • LED
  • SMSR
  • Color Analysis
  • Various Filters
  • Optical Power
  • Spectral Width

Seven Individual Traces
Users can directly select the trace using a mouse via simultaneous multi-trace display and employ Max/Min hold and calculation (subtraction) between traces.

Built-In Macro Programming
Create automated test systems to perform automatic measurements and control external equipment through a remote interface. GP-IB, and Ethernet (10/100Base-T) ports are available for remotel control via PC and to transfer standard SCPI-compatible (ASCII code, conforms to IEEE-488.2) or proprietary AQ6317-compatible commands (Emulation Mode). LabVIEW® drivers are also available.

DUT-Oriented Test Apps (APP)
Application (APP) mode simplifies the testing process by transforming the AQ6373E OSA into a machine dedicated to a device under test (DUT). APP mode provides a DUT-specific user interface that navigates from configuration settings to test result output without the need to worry with many of the other OSA settings. The AQ6370 Series includes multiple pre-installed basic applications such as WDM, DFB-LD, and FP-LD testing. The application is also availble to download from the Yokogawa Test&Measurement website.

Numerical Aperture Conversion Fiber

By connecting a GI 50 or GI 62.5 optical fiber with a relatively large NA to the NA Conversion Fiber, the NA Conversion Fiber reduces the loss that occurs at the input and improves the measurement dynamic range during passive device measurements and the stability of optical level measurements during active device measurements.
