What is the Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) Used For?
OTDR is used in installing and maintenance servicing optical fiber access networks and user networks. Access networks are communications between telephone poles and telephone exchanges and user networks are communications between telephone poles and user sites.
How Does an Optical Time Domain Reflectometer Work?
The optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) sends a series of high speed optical pulses into fiber for measurement in order to find events or faults in a fiber link. The OTDR reads data about events and return pulse strength over time and fiber length and graphs the information.
