DL850 ScopeCorder - How to maximize repeatability of Phase Measurements

DL850 ScopeCorder - How to maximize repeatability of Phase Measurements

  1. Use a direct-input if possible; this will remove the delay due to passive-probes 700929 being different between a pair of input channels (in phase response);
  2. Be sure INPUT COUPLING is set properly; it is easy to overlook; so, if you do use an input probe, be sure to set to 10:1, as an example.
  3. Set your V/DIV or SPAN up so as to maximize VERTICAL RESOLUTION - us as near to 20 vertical divisions as possible; this will decrease the influence of noise on the zero-crossing measurement of each waveform.
  4. Optional: using a BW-limiting filter at the front-end would further improve stability; it may actually (in theory) introduce some detectable phase-shift, so be sure to use the same filter on both channels if filtering is desirable.
