Which optical source is used in OTDR?
Power checker (PC) Measures and displays optical power of incoming light for testing network performance.
Light source (LS) Outputs a stable, continuous wave/modulated light for measuring end-to-end attenuation accurately when paired with an optical power sensor.
Visible light source (VLS) Outputs red light for checking the continuity of launch fibers or short fiber trunks. Breaks and bending in fiber can be identified visually
VLS modules:
- OTDR AQ278- OPM (Optical Power Meter) [Select one model] [Select one connector: SCC, FCC, SFC (2.5 mm dia.), LMC (1.25 mm dia.)] (Models with “V” include the VLS function.)
- AQ4780- VLS (Visible Light Source) (Fixed connector with 2.5 mm dia.)
- AQ1000- OTDR VLS optional optical output
- Wavelength (nm) 650 ±20
- Optical output level –3 dBm or more (Peak)
- Modulation mode CW, 2 Hz
- Laser class †† Class 3R
