How do I recover a missing .SET file?

For a DL950 or DL850/DL850E, one method is to load any old WDF file from a measurement with your desired setup and then save a new .SET file. For a DL750/DL750P/SL1400, if the .WVF and .HDR file pair was saved, you may reload the WVF file back into the instrument and obtain the instrument settings in the system overview. If you perform the "Save" or "Save As" within Xviewer, to save the .WVF and .HDR file pair, you cannot reload the .WVF file back into the instrument.
