POWER MEASUREMENT OF HIGH FREQUENCY LIGHTING SYSTEMS

Power Measurement of High Frequency Lighting Systems

Tm Appli Home03 1

Notes for actual measurement:
Since the inverter output is in the tens to hundreds of kHz range, the power factor error effect of the WT2000 (or 2532) cannot be ignored. In an actual measurement of a 100kHz input signal, phase delay of the WT2000 current side is estimated at approximately 6°and that of the 2532 is approximately 3 °.
Generally, since the power factor in an fluorescent light inverter measurement is close to 1, the power factor error effect is not so big compared to the amplitude error effect. (When PF=1 @ 6°phase delay the effect is cos(6 °) = - 0.5%, when @ 3 °delay the effect is cos(3°) = - 0.14%. On the other hand, the amplitude error is estimated at 2 to 5%)

Solution Features

  • High accuracy measurements at high frequencies (output of ballast, couple dozen to hundreds of kHz)
  • High stability measurements with digital filter system (special mode for lighting equipment is not necessary)
  • High noise-resistance (excellent high-frequency Common Mode Rejection Ratio, CMRR)
  • Harmonic analysis in conformity to IEC1000-3-2, voltage fluctuation and flicker measurements in conformity to IEC1000-3-3
Measurement of efficiency of large inverter-driven motors
  • The WT2000 series enables you to set the measurement range for each input element, permitting accurate measurement according to the level of each input signal. The 3-phase 4-wire model permits measurement of single-phase power and 3-phase power (3-phase 3-wire, 2-wattmeter method), and the MATH function enables you to perform input-to-output efficiency calculations. Power calibration system
  • The WT2000 series has a high basic power measurement accuracy of 0.04% of rdg + 0.04% of rng (cos f = 1, 45 Hz to 66 Hz), and also the effect of power factor is small, being 0.1% of rng (cos f = 0, 45 Hz to 66 Hz), hence you can use the instrument as a standard for calibrating various wattmeters, reactive power meters, and power factor meters. • Measurement of cooling and heating performance of air conditioners The WT2000 series has a wide bandwidth (DC and 2 Hz to 500 kHz) and high accuracy (0.04% of rdg + 0.04% of rng), and can directly measure inputs of up to 30 A. It is therefore suitable for evaluating the stability of an air conditioner in an environmental test chamber during measurement of the cooling and heating performance, and also for measuring electric power and electric power quantity after evaluating the stability.
