Yokogawa Test & Measurement Releases WT1800R Series Precision Power Analyzer
-  For the measurement of power with electronic systems used in automotive and other applications -

Yokogawa Test & Measurement Corporation announces the release of the WT1800R Series Precision Power Analyzer . The WT1800R inherits the excellent measurement performance and wide input range of the preceding WT1800E Series, while offering a wide variety of math functions and the ability to be used in combination with other measurement instruments. This new series supports an extensive variety of power measurement applications, including automotive motor efficiency testing.

Development Background
Yokogawa Test & Measurement released the WT1800 in 2011 and the WT1800E in 2016. These power meters are known for their high measurement performance and wide input range, and have entered wide use in numerous industries. In industry segments such as electric vehicles, renewable energy, and home appliances that make use of power electronics, the rising importance of energy efficiency is driving demand for solutions that can measure power with greater accuracy, and thereby improve power conversion efficiency and reduce power consumption. In particular, for the evaluation of high-efficiency motors, there is a growing need for the ability to measure motor control parameters and understand phenomena by making combined use of power and waveform measurements.

Main Features
In addition to carrying over the key features of the WT1800E, the WT1800R Series offers enhanced math functions and the ability to perform measurement in combination with other instruments, for added convenience in evaluating high-efficiency motors. The series consists of six models that are equipped with between one to six input elements.

1. High accuracy and wide measurement range to cover a broad range of applications
The WT1800R guarantees a power accuracy of ±0.1%. It enables high-precision measurements even when there is a large phase difference between voltage and current thanks to its low power-factor error. In addition, the AC accuracy of the WT1800R is guaranteed from 1% to 110% of the selected voltage and current range. With its wide dynamic range, this instrument ensures accurate power measurement even when there are drastic changes in current levels, and is thus suitable for a broad variety of power measurement applications.

2. Powerful support for motor evaluation with math functions and synchronous measurement with waveform measuring instruments
For the control of high-efficiency motors, the WT1800R supports calculation of the Ld and Lq values. Since formulas can be preset, users are able to calculate parameters without having to perform complex operations. Additionally, by connecting the WT1800R to the IS8001/IS8002 Integrated Software Platform, it is possible to remotely operate the WT1800R from any PC and save measurement data locally. IS8001/IS8002 support also enables synchronous measurement between the WT1800R and waveform measuring instruments such as the DL950 high-speed data logger. When a decrease in efficiency is noted during a continuous motor operation test, the display of highly accurate power and waveform measurement data in an easy to understand format on a single screen allows users to spot connections and identify the problem cause.

3. Improved usability in high current measurement
An optional power supply is available for use with the WT1800R that eliminates the need to connect to an external power supply when performing high-current measurements with a current sensor. A dedicated accessory will soon be released that will supply power to the CT1000S AC/DC split core current sensor. With its clamp design, the CT1000S can be easily installed and removed without having to cut the cables that are to be tested.
