OTDR: Measurement Data Transfer using a Smartphone AQ1210 and a USB dongle

Herunterladen (382 KB)

Data measured by the AQ1210 OTDR can be transferred to distant locations via a mobile network by using an app for smartphones/tablets. By attaching a wireless LAN dongle* to the OTDR main unit and connecting it to a Wi-Fi router, the data can be transferred via the app (Figure 1).
OTDR Data Transporter (Figure 2) is a software application for Android/iOS that allows you to analyze acquired measurement data on a mobile device and attach the data to an email message.

APPLICATION EXAMPLES

1

Attach trace data measured by the AQ1210 to an email on smartphone and send it to the engineer who splices optical fibers. The engineer can do the splicing work while checking the received trace data (Figure 3).

2

After the measurement is completed, you can create a report on the AQ1210, attach the report to an email on your smartphone and send it to your office. You don’t need to travel to the office from the work site to submit the report (Figure 4).

*Verified model: TL-WN725N by TP-Link, CF-WU810N by COMFAST Wireless LAN supports 2.4 GHz only
