Yokogawa's SL2000 meets today’s test needs in auto and power sectors

Technological advancements in sectors like e-mobility, renewable energy and various industrial applications always push for new, more suitable tools. Today we are increasingly seeing the need to simultaneously measure multiple parameters from different disciplines (mechanical, electrical, computing, etc.) and to then organize and streamline those mechatronic measurements in an efficient manner to better control the systems and improve their capabilities. Especially during evaluation and testing, many such measurements are taken and their patterns analyzed. 

Thus, Yokogawa Test and Measurement launches its SL2000 High-Speed Data Acquisition Unit, a modular measurement system that brings a wide range of data logging capabilities to evaluation and test, including sampling and analysis. The instrument analyzes the finest waveform details whilst observing multi-channel measurements over long periods of time.

The SL2000 is part of the Yokogawa ScopeCorder family of products which combine the benefits of mixed signal oscilloscopes and data acquisition recorders. The SL2000 instrument is designed to capture fast signal transients and long-term trends, suitable for R&D, quality testing, operational system monitoring, validation and troubleshooting during product development as well as manufacture. The new SL2000 easily combines with the high-precision power analyzer, the 8-channel oscilloscope, and the data acquisition recorder from the Yokogawa ScopeCorder family, to provide a total, multifaceted solution for high-precision mechatronics and the power electronics markets, among many others. 

The SL2000 provides a unique solution of high-speed sampling and signal fidelity of an oscilloscope and the long-term data recording capabilities of a recorder. Signals are measured at a high bit resolution at speed of 200 MS/s, suitable for the harshest environments and with superior noise immunity. The SL2000 provides a dual capture function for taking long-term measurements whilst capturing events with high sample speed, a useful tool for durability testing and monitoring applications.

The new SL2000 High-Speed Data Acquisition instrument has a raft of capabilities required by sectors such as EV development, transportation (automotive, aerospace, railways), autonomous cars, renewable energy and power, and advanced industrial applications. Among its capabilities are edge processing, which reduces the time spent on post-acquisition analysis and offering functions like real-time math and power math; high-speed communication, allowing 20 MS/s continuous streaming to PCs, with interfaces including 10Gbps Ethernet and USB 3.0; multi-channel support (4ch modules - up to 32 channels/unit; Synchronous operation of multiple devices - up to five up to 160 analog channels for demanding applications); and time synchronization with the IEEE1588 standard, GPS and IRIG - which allow synchronizing data with other measurement instruments and control systems, even at different locations. Data captured by the SL2000 can be long time recorded on the unit itself, with up to 8 Gpoints acquisition memory SSD and Flash acquisition recording.

The instrument comes with a single license of the IS8000 integrated software, which supports up to 160 channel measurements, achieved by connecting four sub units to the main unit with optical fibre cables, a new feature that allows a sub-unit’s screen to be displayed and operated on the main unit. 

High-precision synchronous measurement is possible with a DLM Series oscilloscope and WT5000 that are time-synchronized with the IEEE1588 standard and recorded by the IS8000 software.
